Handwriting was a thing. Those days, texts were sent via written notes folded into hearts or other creative shapes like ninja stars or envelopes. They were given via a friend to the person or handed off direct to the person between passing periods in middle school or high school. Stamps were not necessary. Or, letters were mailed the old fashioned way where stamps were necessary.
